Professional lunar observation platform for astronomy enthusiasts. Track complete lunation cycles, log detailed observations with computed accuracy scores, and identify optimal viewing times for relief features through advanced phase modeling.
All observation tools included with Zeus Storms download. Codes unlock immediate access to advanced tracking features upon first launch.
Zeus Storms employs a mean lunation model that computes expected visibility scores based on current moon phase, illumination percentage, and feature position. When you record an observation, the app compares your estimate against the computed baseline and calculates the error margin in point values.
The scoring system evaluates atmospheric seeing quality on a 1-5 scale using crescent indicators. Sky conditions are logged with selectable presets including Clear status. Each entry captures date, time, and lunation number for comprehensive cycle tracking across sequential lunar months.
Observation data accumulates into analytics visualizations. The lunation chart displays a parabolic curve representing the computed model, with hollow square markers showing your estimates and filled circles indicating computed values. Residual bars reveal measurement accuracy patterns over time.
Track observations across numbered lunation cycles from new moon to new moon. Each cycle is assigned a sequential identifier allowing you to compare accuracy improvement patterns across multiple lunar months.
Every observation generates three values: computed score from the lunation model, your visual estimate, and the calculated error margin. This three-column data structure reveals systematic observation biases.
Access a comprehensive catalog of lunar maria, craters, and relief features. Each entry includes position plotting, visibility status indicators, best relief timing, and cumulative seen counts from your observation history.
The lunar month divides into eight octants representing distinct phase ranges. Horizontal coverage bars visualize which phases you have successfully observed within the current lunation cycle.
Rate atmospheric stability using a five-level scale displayed as crescent icons. This data correlates with observation accuracy allowing you to identify optimal conditions for future sessions.
The phase scrubber provides temporal controls including minus and plus lunation buttons, single-day increments, and a NOW reset function. Model calculations adjust automatically displaying illumination percentage and lunar age.
